Prepare the spreadsheet as a source of truth
Identify the controlling sheet and range
Name the workbook, sheet, table, date range, and version that control the presentation.

Resolve spreadsheet errors first

Avoid using a pie chart simply because the values add to a total. If viewers need precise comparison or there are many categories, a sorted bar chart or table may be clearer.

Write titles that state the supported conclusion

The stronger title is useful only when the workbook supports all three parts: recovery, June, and the target comparison.
For each title, require:

Build an evidence table before accepting slides

Keep detail available without crowding the slides
The main slide should contain the decision-relevant conclusion and evidence. Put:
- metric definitions in notes or a glossary;
- complete source tables in an appendix;
- formula details in backup slides;
- data-quality limitations beside the affected claim;
- reconciliation notes in the working review document.

Decide whether the deck is a snapshot or a live view
A presentation can capture one approved reporting state or stay connected to a changing workbook. Make that decision explicitly.
Use a snapshot when the deck represents a formal period close, board packet, customer deliverable, or other reviewed record. Save the source version and reporting cutoff with the presentation. If the workbook later changes, the approved deck should not silently change with it.
Use a linked or recurring update when the audience expects the latest data and the link can be maintained safely. Document who refreshes it, which workbook location must remain available, and how the new values will be reviewed before delivery.
Whichever model you choose, avoid an ambiguous middle state. A slide that looks current but contains a mixture of linked values, pasted screenshots, and manually edited labels is difficult to verify. Record the behavior of every important chart and table in the handoff notes.
